Part 1: How to Enable WhatsApp End-to-End Encrypted Backup
Step 1 Tap the three dots in the top right corner, select “Settings”, and then tap “Chats”.
Step 2 Tap “Chat backup”, then select “End-to-end encrypted backup”. If it is not yet enabled, click “TURN ON” to enter the setup menu.
Step 3 Tap “GENERATE YOUR 64-DIGHT KEY”, then select “USE 64-DIGIT ENCRYPTION KEY INSTEAD”.

Take a screenshot of this page and save it securely before proceeding.
Step 4 Tap “I SAVE MY 64-DIGHT KEY”, click “CREATE”, and once the “On” status appears, tap “BACK UP” to activate your encrypted backup.
Part 2: How to Reset the Encryption Key If You Forget It
Step 1 Tap the three dots, go to “Settings”, tap “Chats”, and select “Chat backup”.
Step 2 Tap “End-to-end encrypted backup”, select “TURN OFF”, and then tap “I lost my encryption key”.
Step 3 Verify your identity via biometrics or device PIN. After encryption is turned off, follow the part 1 guide again to obtain a new 64-digit key.
